WE LOVE OUR PETS!
If you are a pet owner, you probably remember the day you first brought your furry friend home. It was such an exciting day, and you probably couldn't wait to start showering your new pet with love and attention. You probably went to the pet store and bought everything you could think of, just in case your pet needed it. You may have even bought a few things just because they were so cute! And then the bonding began.
Having a pet, it is important to spend time with them and bond, whether you are playing, sleeping, or just hanging out on the couch. But it is equally important to make sure your pet is getting the best nutrition in their diet. As pet parents, we do this because we love our pets and want them to live long and healthy lives. Just like you, we at NUTRAFED love our pets and want the best for them. That's why we set out to make healthy treats that our beloved pets enjoy.
NUTRAFED was originally born out of love for a dog named Gracie and a desire to provide other pet owners with a healthy and safe alternative to traditional commercial kibble.
Elizabeth is one of the owners of NutraFed. She started making dog food in 2010 for her dogs after her Weimaraner, Gracie Gray, lost her health.
Gracie was a sweet girl who was usually full of life. But one day, she started getting sick. She began losing her hair, developed lumps along her back and sides, and stopped eating her kibble. She would beg for food, but would then refuse to eat. Veterinary bills started adding up, and Elizabeth was rightfully worried about Gracie.
After some research, Elizabeth discovered that the dog food she was feeding Gracie must have been contaminated with aflatoxin. Unfortunately, by the time the company recalled the food, hundreds of dogs had died.
Moving forward, when Elizabeth got Winston, her Silky/Yorkie Terrier, the previous owner had him eating a high brand of kibble. Unfortunately, he too was having health issues. His hair was sparse in many areas, he was always biting his feet, scratching, and worse yet, he was having seizures. Once again, Elizabeth wondered if it was something in the food. She was determined to find a way to feed her dogs healthy and safe food. With the help of her vet and a lot of research, she came up with a recipe that provided the nutrition her dogs needed.
Elizabeth uses only fresh, high-quality ingredients, no artificial flavors, and no YUCKY rendered by-products. She started the pet treat/food line for NUTRAFED in order to offer other pet owners access to the same high-quality, healthy food she gives her own dogs, Winston and Sierra.
We love our pets! Therefore, we make REAL food because our pets are family.
